2012 Riserva Release Event! Saturday, March 23rd, 10am – 3:30pm

2012 Riserva Release Event

Saturday, March 23rd
10 am until 3:30 pm

Be one of the first to taste 2012 Riserva at the release event held at Weyerbacher’s Visitors Center on Saturday, March 23rd! Doors will open to the public at 10 am and remain open throughout the normal Visitors Center hours until 3:30 pm. Rather than the usual Saturday samplings at the bar, all of our available styles of beer will be set up at different tasting stations located throughout the brewery. Tours will be cancelled for the day, however, full-time staff and tour guides will be positioned throughout the brewery to discuss any questions you may have about the equipment. During this special event, you will be able to see the new cellar, the whole bottling line and get up close to all of the equipment.

We’ll also be debuting Zulu, the final installment of the Brewers’ Select NATO Alphabet Series and 2013 Heresy!

Of course, you’ll still be able to buy whatever quantity and selection of beers you’d like at our case packing area. We’ll have growlers and kegs available for sale and lots of new T-shirts and glassware!

Don’t miss this event!

Sour Black Release Event

“Born in the darkness that followed Rapture…”  Sour Black is now available and ready to enter your cellar!

Save the Date!  Friday, June 29th, 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Brewery.  Come out, meet the brewers and sample this and a few other amazing beers!

Sour Black, ~5% ABV, is a Black Ale aged in Wine Barrels.  These barrels are the same used Pinot Noir barrels which produced Rapture.  Brettanomyces lambicus was added to the barrels adding a nice acidity.  It’s fruity and tart with just enough roasted character; a truly delightful dark ale.

Sour Black Ale is packaged in a 750ml bottle finished with a cork and cage.  This beer is available exclusively at the brewery and will not be distributed in any way.

Customers are no longer required by law to purchase beer in case quantities!  We do not expect to sell out right away but we are not holding any back for future dates.  When this beer is gone, it’s gone forever!  Hopefully Sour Black will still be available on Saturday and the following Friday and Saturday as well.  We have around 350 cases available.  Some math:  est: 4,200 bottles at avg. 6 bottles a person = 700 people.

Sour Black is $17 per bottle / $204 for a case of 12 (+ tax).  Because we want to spread the love as much as possible, we have placed a 2 case limit for Sour Black per customer.  While we do offer a discount to customers purchasing 24 or more bottles of any size or style, Sour Black will contribute toward the total bottles in your order however it is not eligible for any discount.

We will also be sampling 750ml Merry Monks, Our Anniversary beers SEVENTEEN and GABF Gold Medal-Winning SIXTEEN as well as Last Chance IPA at this event!   6/27/12 Last Minute Addition!  We will also be sampling “Whiskey Barrel Aged!

Identical in format to the Riserva 2011 and Last Chance IPA release events,  the entire brewery will once again serve as a giant Visitors Center with lots of room for people to spread out.  We even have a separate newly-renovated ladies’ room!  Guests will enter via the alleyway at our receiving / loading dock door and sample their way back up to the front of the building (where the Visitors Center is).  The regular Visitors Center bar area will be closed for sampling however any beer we have on draft is available for growler fills.

We hope to see you there!

SEVENTEEN! The Seventeenth Anniversary beer is here!

It’s been seventeen years since Dan Weirback decided to brew beer for a living – and WOW, what a ride!

This new brew commemorates our seventeenth anniversary.  As with all of our anniversary brews, the aptly-named “Seventeen” is 10.5% abv.  It’s a saison-style, too…  so we’re going with the term “Super Saison!”  Seventeen is brewed with grapefruit peel, sweet and bitter orange peel, lemon peel and pink peppercorns and is delightfully refreshing for such a big brew!

Seventeen will be available at select locations during Philly Beer Week  and will debut this weekend (Friday 6/1 and Saturday 6/2) at the Visitors Center for sale in 12 oz bottles and growlers.

The Idiot’s Drool Release Event Is Today, November 17th from 5 to 8pm!

YEP!  Another Thursday!  THIS THURSDAY!!!

Just like when we released Rapture on September 22nd, we’re having a special Thursday night engagement here at the brewery to release the next of our barrel-aged brewery only beers:  Idiot’s Drool!

This is bourbon barrel aged Blithering Idiot…  and when we say aged, we mean it!  Four-and-a-half years on oak!  In addition, it’s finished in a 750ml bottle with a cork and cage.

Head Brewer Chris Wilson says, “It’s a full-bodied, deep burgundy ale with an incredibly complex character. Extended aging has imbued this beer with notes of vanilla, oak, leather and sweet sherry. A mild acidity and subtle carbonation rounds out the palate. Truly fantastic!”

The event will begin at 5pm when we open our doors for the you to come in an sample some Idiot’s Drool as well as some of our other seasonably available beers.  Our beer sampling stations will be staffed by members of our actual brewing team so you can ask them all the crazy stuff you may want to know about…  and of course the Visitors Center staff will be on hand to help you with any purchases you may want to make.

We’ll also be sampling QUAD, Blithering Idiot, Double Simcoe IPA and Merry Monks (both in 750ml bottles), Winter Ale, Old Heathen, Hops Infusion and Verboten, too!  What?  That isn’t enough?  FINE!  We’re going to release “Tango“, too.  Tango is the next release in the Brewers’ Select Series and is a 9.6% ABV Belgian Strong Ale with Cherries!

The Nitty Gritty:

Hours - Doors are open from 5pm to 8pm.  Expect a line.  We have only one register.  We’ll do our best.  Grumpy people will not be allowed to have Idiot’s Drool.  Instead, they will be shackled and forced to clean the parking lot while the others point and laugh.  There may be paint involved, too.

Bottle Limits and Laws – We are a production brewery only which means we can only sell you full cases (twenty-four 12 oz bottles or twelve 750ml bottles).   It’s a law thing, not our policy.  That said, because of the incredibly small batch of beer for which we are having this event, we have decided to limit each person to SIX (6) bottles of Idiot’s Drool.  Yes, we do realize that a case of 750s is twelve (12) bottles.  No, we’re not trying to do some kind of crazy “force ‘em to buy more other stuff, too” nonsense; It’s purely about the math.  We just don’t have many bottles and we want to make sure you all get a chance to have some without having to sell tickets and stamp hands and check your DNA and whatnot.  We will have Merry Monks and Double Simcoe IPA available in 750ml bottles to round out your full case of 12 bottles…   oh…    yeah….. and we’ll have RAPTURE available, too!  You can always ask around and find a buddy to split a full case with you.

Distribution – This is an EXTREMELY limited bottling run.  There are no cases going to any distributors anywhere at all.  None.  Zero.  If you’re getting this beer, you’re getting it here.  We do NOT expect the supply to last the night.  If each person takes their limit of 6 bottles, we’re only talking about 140 customers.

The Register – We’re all about getting you access to what you want BUT we have to be mindful of the laws.  If two people want to split a full case of rapture (6 bottles each from a 12 bottle case), please settle your finances between each other before OR after you go to the register.  Please DO NOT ask our cashier to split payment on two different cards.  We’re selling a case to one person… start to finish…  Capiche!?!? Visa, Master Card, Amex and when it goes thru, Discover.  We take cold hard cash, too.  Sorry, no checks!

Pricing – Idiot’s Drool is $23.00 a bottle.  Rapture is $17.00 a bottle.  Double Simcoe IPA and Merry Monks 750 ml bottles are $6.50 each.  TWELVE BOTTLES TO A CASE.

So what else do you have? We will also have our full lineup of year round and current seasonal beers in 12 oz bottles available to mix into custom variety packs.  As if this was not enough, we will also be ready to sell you growlers of our available draft beer as well!

We look forward to seeing you there!

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE POST THEM BELOW AND WE WILL POST REPLIES ASAP.

Cheers!
