Weyerbacher

The Debut of Weyerbacher’s “Last Chance IPA” and the official retirement of “Hops Infusion IPA”

Come down to the brewery Friday, May 25th between 4:30 and 8pm to get your absolute first shot at sampling Weyerbacher’s newest brew:  Last Chance IPA is a 5.9% ABV West Coast-Style India Pale Ale using a combination of Centennial, Cascade, Simcoe and Columbus hops.

Weyerbacher Brewing Company donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of every drop of Last Chance IPA to small, regional animal rescue operations.  These shelters offer dogs, cats and other pets their last chance to find a new home.  Have a glass, make a difference!

This new IPA is the replacement for our beloved Hops Infusion IPA, born 6/18/1998 and retired officially at this event.  Dress in black to mourn the passing of our old friend (veils optional though encouraged, tissues provided).  We encourage you to bring a photograph showing you in your old Hops Infusion shirt or holding a bottle or glass of Hops Infusion and post it on the wall of memories which will be on display in the Visitors Center for all time!

As with all of our events, you will also be able to have standard-sized samples of the wide array of beers we presently have available.  We’re even going to give you a larger sample of Last Chance IPA and a larger sample of Hops Infusion!  We’ll also have all of our in-season beers available for sale in bottles, kegs and growlers.  Note:  Last Chance IPA 12oz bottles will not be made for a while yet.

BONUS!  We will be releasing this year’s highly anticipated batch of Blasphemy, our Quad aged in used oak bourbon barrels and then bottle conditioned in a 25.4oz / 750ml bottle finished with a cork and a cage.

Can not WAIT to taste the Last Chance!!! Hops Infusion will be missed as it is one tasty brew!! CHEERS!!!

  2. As one of the animal shelters that Weyerbacher generously supports, we at the Humane Society of Berks County can say that we are looking forward to Last Chance IPA. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Double Simcoe and Hops Infusion and this will be a red letter day for me!

The Last Chance is a tasty beer – I just picked up a case. Out of curiosity, what percentage of the proceeds go to the shelters?

It amounts to about a nickel a beer but due to the price differences between 1/6 bbl and 1/2 bbl and cases (per fl ounce) there is no strict percentage. It’s a specific rate per wholesale package sold. It may not seem like a lot however consider this: In our first partial month of sales of the beer, we were able to donate $1,200ish to a local shelter here in Easton. We have just completed our June sales and it looks like it will be $2,600ish which will be donated, as I understand it, to a local Husky rescue (details unknown to me at the time I wrote this but it is a rescue close to our VP and her family).

I recently discovered Wyerbacher @ a great little Ft. Lauderdale, FL. pub (yummy!) I esp. enjoyed “Holy Mackeral Panic Attack” and “Last Chance”. Both so fresh & flavorful! Never thought I’d be wishing I lived in PA. instead of FL.. (LOL) The events (Pints for Paws!) sound wonderful!

I also love the idea that a portion of “Last Chances” proceeds go to animals. Almost makes being a barfly charity work. I shelter for a great no-kill rescue that relies totally on donations. We rescue & adopt an average of 100 dogs & cats a month. We also take in emergency abuse & neglect cases, offer a mobile spay neuter clinic & a cat sanctuary. It would be wonderful to be able to benefit from Wyerbacher’s donations. Would that be possible?
