Weyerbacher

Double Simcoe IPA

Double Simcoe IPA, 9.0% ABV, is a full flavored ale with hints of pineapple and citrus up front, a good malt backbone in the middle and a clean finish.

Double Simcoe IPA is our incredible reward for Hopheads seeking the intense hop flavor in a Double IPA, without the harshness. It is brewed utilizing only the Simcoe hop variety. This hybrid hop, developed and trademarked by Select Botanicals Group, LLC in the year 2000, was created for its high alpha acid content, maximum aromatic oils, and low cohumulone (harshness) levels so that brewers can really put a lot of ‘em in a beer and not create an overly harsh taste.

Check it out, and you’ll soon see why everyone’s talking about it. Double Simcoe is available year-round.

Named 2006 “PA Beer of the Year” by Beer Author Lew Bryson, at www.LewBryson.com.

Wow, I’m drinking this beautiful IPA now. The taste is so clean, bitter, and refreshing. That’s just how I like it. I’ve recently fell in love with IPA’s, and this one goes to the top of my list. Thanks for a great beer!

While at Jungle Jim’s in FairField Oh I was looking to pick up a couple big Beers for the weekend. I had a couple Stones in my hand and when I saw the Double Simcoe IPA at a $1 less per Pint 9.4fl oz bottles I went with the Simcoe. Well, my fruggle nature has paid off. Very nice big beer without an over powering bite. Well done. I’ve been a Cascade fan for many years and although this is my first Simcoe experience that I know of I may have another fav! Good job guys!

I usually drink very heavy or very hoppy, and I’ve had this now and then during the last few years or so. This is one of the few that doesn’t dissappoint or fade out of my repotoire as I try new ales as times go on. I hope you keep making it, and thanks for making it available in the Midwest!

  24. avatar Tyler Lyerly says:

My favorite style beer is the IPA. This is definitely one of my favorites in that style. It’s extremely hoppy, but not too harsh. Even the high alcohol content doesn’t mask the quality of the flavor and hops like in some other brews. This is one of the beers I truly look forward to and I hope Weyerbacher comes out with another unique double IPA to enjoy. Thank you.

I was able to snag a fresh six-pack this past week, bottled on 1/15/2013. It is a 10% imperial IPA brewed with honey and despite the hefty price tag, it does hit on all of your IPA fantasies. It’s bitter yet well-balanced, slightly sweet from the honey, and has a stone fruit finish from the late addition of everyone’s favorite hop, Simcoe. Moved from Bethlehem PA to Nashville and sorely miss my Weterbacher. But I enjoyed a Double Simcoe tonight that I’d kept for 4-5 years and was amazed at how much even smoother it had aged! I love my older Heresys but this made me appreciate DS in a whole new way, thanks for spurring my love of phenomenal IPAs!
